The Good and The Bad Exist Together

It's not all doom and gloom, this year we experience the start of the metal rat year with the global outbreaks of respiratory disease called Coronavirus. A city with 11.08 million population is in lock down, lots of people have been cancelling their flights to the affected countries during this festive holiday season. People are in fear for their health and safety. I don't know how many times people have been asked for face masks at my workplace this week, we ran out the N95 (respiratory mask) since day one after the disease went public on Monday, and our suppliers just can't provide them due to high demand in the markets.

However like the dark that can't exist without light, this year on my social media, my family and friends have been posting lots of their Chinese New Year celebration photos more than I can remember. I also received so many images of the 2020 metal rat Chinese New Year greetings.

And today the 26 January is the Australia Day, it marks the anniversary of the 1788 arrival of the First Fleet of British ships at Port Jackson, New South Wales, and the raising of the Flag of Great Britain at Sydney Cove by Governor Arthur Phillip.

I am proud to be a part of Australia, so thank you husband for the lovely Australian style breakfast (vegimite toast with cheese and tomato) and for the Advance Australia Fair (Australia National Anthem) this morning, what a way to start the day.

Lyrics

Australians all let us rejoice
For we are young and free
We've golden soil and wealth for toil
Our home is girt by sea
Our land abounds in nature's gifts
Of beauty rich and rare
In history's page, let every stage
Advance Australia Fair
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia Fair
Beneath our radiant Southern Cross
We'll toil with hearts and hands
To make this Commonwealth of ours
renowned of all the lands
For those who've come across the seas
We've boundless plains to share
With courage let us all combine
To Advance Australia Fair
In joyful strains then let us sing
Advance Australia Fair

Tiny But Big

The biggest and most captivating smile that I have ever received is in 2004, when I was doing a charity work to the marginal people who live in the landfill of the wealthiest people in the country. The warmest hug that I have ever received from a stranger is in 2018 from the homeless man who stop and asked me if I have a spare change which I did not have. Despite the fact that I had nothing to give him, he gave me a hug that I can't forget, the hug that come unexpected yet so beautiful. God usually pack a lot of power and strength into tiny little packages, in the most humble way.
