Self-help

Yesterday I was exhausted, I want to sleep but I can't, my mind and my body were still very active, tired, and aching at the same time. I can't find myself to be comfortable on the bed, I felt hot and cold, I was turning and toss. I wound myself down with plenty of videos on YouTube, game, book, and instrumental music, none of these were working. For few times, I have a thought to read Bible and go through some of the Bible reading plan because I couldn't sleep. Finally after a few distractions here and there, I open the app and this is the first verse that comes out: In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV God really knows what I need everytime. I didnt expect that Bible and all it's teaching would help me to sleep soundly this morning. A lot of good words from Bible and books I have been reading, and many of inspirational teaching videos have strengthen and help me to relax. All of thes...

Death

For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. Matthew 16:25 One of the thing I notice from working in the pharmacy industry is that majority of the people are afraid of death or avoid death. People treat birth as a joyous event and death as a dismal occasion. In my perspective, death is something that all of us need to celebrate and rejoice. We should have the same attitude for death and birth, birth and death only happen once in our earthly lifetime. Birth is the event when a being start their journey (the joy and the suffering), death is the event when a being stop, rest, and return to the almighty as a winner or loser. During this Coronavirus outbreak 2020, people are desperately practicing hygiene suddenly. They care so much for they own wellbeing with little care of other. Currently, the number one selling items at the pharmacies are antibacterials, hand sanitizer, alcohol, and masks. One person will buy the whole masks...

Entitlement

People say our young generation is entitled, it is a good topic to joke about for the stand-up comedians. Entitled is believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment. I believe this is not owned by the young generation only, every generation has it, every one of us has it to some degree. This is a problem we have in society in any age, in any countries in this world. I remember when I was a kid, at night during the hot season our house was filled with mosquitos, and dengue fever are quite common in our country.  I can't remember whether I and my sister ever whined about it but I always remember the fact that my mother often stayed up late holding the insects killer racket just to defended us from the mosquitoes. However, My entitlement behaviour took the bad on me, I thought she ought to do that one because she is our mother, it's her duties to protect us. I did not really care how many hours she has spent at our room every night, or whethe...

Drug Stores Got Tired

What the Coronavirus outbreak did to our local pharmacies worldwide. Pharmacies got tired 😀

Psalms 19:14

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord , my strength, and my redeemer. Psalms 19:14 KJV

The Good and The Bad Exist Together

It's not all doom and gloom, this year we experience the start of the metal rat year with the global outbreaks of respiratory disease called Coronavirus. A city with 11.08 million population is in lock down, lots of people have been cancelling their flights to the affected countries during this festive holiday season. People are in fear for their health and safety. I don't know how many times people have been asked for face masks at my workplace this week, we ran out the N95 (respiratory mask) since day one after the disease went public on Monday, and our suppliers just can't provide them due to high demand in the markets. However like the dark that can't exist without light, this year on my social media, my family and friends have been posting lots of their Chinese New Year celebration photos more than I can remember. I also received so many images of the 2020 metal rat Chinese New Year greetings. And today the 26 January is the Australia Day, it marks the ann...

This type of initiatives will only be successful if they are carefully planned. The Chinese New Year is celebrated every year through sumptuous and colorful festivities. It is the most important celebration, an occa...

Ephesians 6:11

We Have A Lot in Common

It is easier to spot the differences than the akin, it is because we have been taught that we are unique in our own way, everybody of us are one in a billion, human's urge to stand out, and we all have desire to be loved and noticed. We become an arrogant human being and have less tolerance on diversity, on the other hand we feel insecure oftenly  because of our own standard and the habit to compare ourselves to other people. If you look deeper, we human have more things in common with each other than the differences. So, please do not othering someone who are different than you, do not look down on other people, and have respect for yourself and everybody whoever they are, whatever their occupation is, their education level, their country, their religion, and their economy.

Addiction

Addiction is the fact or condition of being addicted to a particular substance or activity. Addiction usually start with pain and end with pain. People will turn to addiction as an escape from their 'hard to deal with' current circumstances. Addiction have negative connotation but in my opinion addiction can be good and bad. But anything that not being done in moderation tends to bring more harm and good.  However, the dichotomy of bad and good, can we really be able to distinguish them? In my own opinion again there is no such things as true good and true bad, all good and all bad. It all depends on our own perceptions and our current states when it's happen. What is good now might not be good again tomorrow, the thing that is good now was not good yesterday. If we are battling with any addiction today, let's all of us be kind to ourselves. We should all acknowledge our addictions and bring them to the lights, but we shouldn't condemn them. We are what we are now b...

Changes

God works in a mysterious way. Change is very much inevitable, the only constant in life is change. Before I enrolled at university, my hobby was to draw, I also worked casually at my uncle's printing business. Therefore I enrolled myself in a diploma of Architecture, Interior, and Visual Communication. When I graduated, I realised that I was not creative enough, moreover I have gained employment in banking industry two months before I was officially graduate.  I love my job at the bank, my colleagues, the director and managers love me. I am good on what I do and I was also good in bookkeeping and accounting in my high school years. Then, I quit my job to pursue a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Accounting and Banking. However, during my first year of study, I began working at one of prominent pharmacy company in Australia as a Pharmacy Assistant. After three years study of Accounting and Banking, I realised that I love the field but dislike working in the corporations. Me and my...

Identity and Division

We live in the world where people are more divided than ever. People lose their ability to hear, the world become a noisy place because people can't stop talking. I was reading a book titled Inglorious Empire last year, in that book the author wrote about British colonisation in India. What struck me the most is when he explained that British used identity to divide The Great India. It's not the identity that they are Indian, it's the identity of their religion, Muslim and Hindu. Because of this we now have a country called Pakistan and many people are still suffering by the conflict of identity in Kashmir.  Identity is the fact of being who or what a person or thing is or a close similarity or affinity. We all are different, I think everyone has know about it and accepting that fact. But because it was boxed up as identity and when someone with the evil intention bring our identity up, we are become so consciously about it, caught up by it, full of it and became less toler...

Mens Rea

Mens Rea is  the intention or knowledge of wrongdoing that constitutes part of a crime, as opposed to the action or conduct of the accused. Mens Rea  refers to criminal intent. The literal translation from Latin is "guilty mind." The plural of  mens rea  is mentes reae. A  mens rea refers to the state of mind statutorily required in order to convict a particular defendant of a particular crime.

Sustainable Development Goals

I would never heard about the word "Sustainable" if I did not take three Sustainability units as my elective breath units at the university. I love this word, for me personally sustainability means wholeness, which is a thing that human have looking and pursue all their life. Sustainable according to Idoceonline is the ability to continue without causing damage, or able to continue for a long time. It's about the existence, which is why the United Nation's Sustainable Development Goals are so important. Every countries should take this SDG seriously, adopt and make them as the top priority, and set them as standard for their growth since 2015. The Sustainable Development Goals are: No Poverty Zero Hunger Good Health and Well-being Quality Education Gender Equality Clean Water and Sanitation Affordable and Clean Energy Decent Work and Economic Growth Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure Reducing Inequality Sustainable Cities and Communities Respo...

Being Present

In the book "The Power of Now"it's written that to the ego, the present moment is hardly exist, only past and future are considered important. We all know how having the ego will ruined our lives, our ego would initiate different kind of problems such as jealousy, envy, greed, worry, anger, etc. Therefore, living in the present moment is the solution to a problem you may not have known you had, the conscious awareness and a commitment to staying in the “now”. The living in the "now" keeps us grounded and connected to ourselves and to everything around us. If we are completely present, the external forces are no longer a problem. In the present there is only we and our surroundings, and not other things you need to worry about. Let's be aware and mindful to ourselves and our surroundings.

Mother

The bond that a child develops with his mother can never be severed. You grew as an organism inside her for nine months. She carried you and sustained you, sharing her sustenance with you through your umbilical cord. When you are born the cord is severed. It is never severed in her heart. That bond lasts forever. As we grow up we become our own people and may come to forget that woman who nurtured and loved us. But remember this, she will never forget you and never stop loving you. Source:  https://www.familyfriendpoems.com/poems/family/mother/ A single mother of three just visited us this week, she is just 25 and she has 5 yo, 2 yo, and 2 months old daughters. There were lots of energy in the house, there were never a quite time on the daytime. Their mother has no time to rest, to nap, to have her me time. My husband said to me, the good thing about being a grandparent is they can return their grandchildrens when they become too much, but not for the parent, the parent can't forsa...

James 1:22‭-‬24

But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.  For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:  For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. James 1:22‭-‬24 KJV

Pretender

The word pretend seems to have negative connotation, and the pretender has been received by public as a dishonest person. I remember how Freddie Mercury at the end of his career chose to sang this song as a way to asking for public's forgiveness and understanding. To be honest we all love pretender. I think we all are born to be pretender, because that what the world want and need. We have been shaped to be pretender. To pretend is in all conscious and subconscious mind of us. It is us, we all are pretender. Pretend is our defence mechanism for our existence, even the nature justify the pretentious being with all the camouflages. I remember when I was kid, I like to play being someone else. When I was Kid, I already know how to behave and act in certain way to please adults. I think pretend is somehow the act of deny myself, my selfish self.  It is in-line with the Bible verse Matthew 16:24,  Then  Jesus told his disciples,  “If anyone would come after me, let him...

Flex Culture

Time is something we could not stop nor we can rewind. I feel everything in this day and age are changing very rapidly, too fast in my own judgement. I am a millennials but I feel that I am not a part of the millennials, and I have been far left behind socially. There is no way for me to keep up with the 'happening' culture including the Flex Culture. Flex Verb Definition:  showing off one’s status, material wealth, or well-being. Back then, I was thought to be humble, today's parents taught their children to flex. Humility might become an unknown word and obselete in the near future. The young adult, young parents, the kids, and some of the older generation are currently embracing this culture. I don't want to judge but I adamantly despise this culture. It is vain and unnecessary. Is the new culture going to fits with the term of growth and maturity? The standards of growth and maturity might have changed to the current cultures and technologies, and I hope I won't...

What is Reality

Reality is the state of things as they actually exist, as opposed to an idealistic or notional idea of them or the state or quality of having existence or substance. Is reality show is a reality? Do we live in a world where everyone is true to themselves? Celebrity, influencer, internet, and games are having very significant role in clouting people perception and lifestyles nowadays. If we live in a world that has been influenced by many things and by many people, have we been true to ourselves? Do we exist and what reality is the reality?

Commitment

Commitment is one of the hardest things to do. I commit myself to write everyday in 2020, at the beginning it was quite cool and I did make time to wrote few paragraph everyday. But it doesn't take too long for me to find this everyday writing is quite tiring and burdensome.  One force that pushed me to wrote today is my commitment. At the book Seven Habit of the Highly Effective People was mentioned about having the end set at the beginning. My end is to have 366 articles by the end of this year. I just have to say to myself, ciayooo Yuli, you can do it! Make it as your habit 💪💪💪

Bushfire

Everywhere around Australia are consumed by fire. There was one fire started today in the suburb nearby at around 12 pm, the smoke so thick and heavy and quite overwhelming. I am unable to sleep tonight from the heat, the smoke, and the worry. Today I also just make a donation to bushfire in Eastern states to Red Cross Bushfire Appral. This is a very devastating situation for Australia. Australia has to start taking climate change seriously, Australia currently have no target whatsoever to reduce the global emission, and ironically we are currently the biggest exporter for LNG. It's a wake up call for Australia Government and all the ignorants, you have to take people's voice on climate change seriously. May God protect us all 🙏

Breaking News USA and Iran

We facing war everyday, this physical war has escalated in the Middle East. Peace be with us 🙏🙏🙏 Iran launched more than a dozen missiles at Iraqi bases hosting US and coalition troops overnight, declaring the strikes to be retaliation for the killing last week of the senior Iranian general Qassem Suleimani. Al-Asad airbase in Iraq’s Anbar province was hit 17 times, including by two ballistic missiles that failed to detonate, according to the Iraqi government. A further five missiles were targeted at a base in the northern city of Erbil in the assault, which began at about 1.30am local time on Wednesday (10.30pm GMT). In what appeared to be an attempt to lessen the diplomatic fallout from bombing its neighbour,   Iran notified Iraq shortly after midnight that an attack had begun and clarified that any strikes would be limited to locations where the US military was present, the Iraqi prime minister’s office said. Adel Abdul Mahdi’s office said in a statement on Wednesday that at ...

Family

Family is a group of one or more parents and their children living together as a unit. Family can be made up of anyone a person considers to be their family.  A family shares emotional bonds, common values, goals and responsibilities. Nicole M O’Neal  “A Family is Like a Circle” A family is like a circle. The connection never ends, and even if at times it breaks, in time it always mends. A family is like the stars. Somehow they’re always there. Families are those who help, who support and always care. A family is like a book. The ending’s never clear, but through the pages of the book, their love is always near. A family is many things. With endless words that show who they are and what they do and how they teach you so you know. But don’t be weary if it’s broken or if through time it’s been so worn. Families are like that— they’re split up and always torn. But even if this happens, your family will always be. They help define just who you are and will be a part of you eternal...

Mind inside the Mind

Have you ever wonder how our mind work? Do you think it's possible for us to understand on how our mind work? Wikipedia definition of the mind is the set of cognitive faculties including consciousness, imagination, perception, thinking, judgement, language and memory, which is housed in the brain (sometimes including the central nervous system). It is usually defined as the faculty of an entity's thoughts and consciousness. It's another reflective blog, and I would like to discuss how my mind was work yesterday. Yesterday when I was reading on Jesus who has saved Mary Magdalene from the stoning, I was touched. I have read and hear this verses so many times since I was kid, and this was the first time I want to cry when I read this story. I have perceived some profound lessons from the event which I never ever think before, and this makes me wonder on how much is my mind and my emotion are playing big roles in my everyday life. The first chapter from the boo...

Justice Compassion Humility

So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.  When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?  She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more. John 8:7‭, ‬10‭-‬11 KJV 1. Be courageous, stand up when you see someone get treated unfairly near you, regardless who they are 2. Be impartial, don't judge first, have mercy first 3. Be pensive, able to look up into ourselves, and be humble since we are all human being born with sin. Just like Jesus when he said to an adulterer "Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more." 4. Be witty, know how to handle any kind of situations wisely I have read and hear this verse many times before, but when I read this scripture this morning I just got a different rhema.  Jesus is and was very char...

Character vs Skills

"Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” –Confucius “Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.” –Theodore Roosevelt "Hire character.  Train skill.” –Peter Schutz Have you ever notice how the recruitment process being done nowadays? The first screening is the employer will judging you from your resume, cover letter and GPA The second screening is they will test your employability skills The next test is group interview and the last test is direct interview with the vendor Through this process, skills definitely come first before the character and ethic. Character and ethics become the last or non existent factors to be considered in. No wonder people are so critical and cut throat at work or at school to be recognised for their skills. And we are wonder how the society become so corrupted?  Hiring competent people with corrupted morale will only bring damage to the society. Low morale people...

Jomblang Cave Jogjakarta

Yesterday I came across a YouTube video called Analog Trip, this video is about 6 K-pop idols went on a trip to Indonesia for holiday. My older sister was the one who recommend me to watch it a few months ago. The whole 12 series of their video were very good, but there are two episodes that left huge impression to me. In this video they were visiting Goa Jomblang   or Jomblang Cave . This cave located in Gunung Kidul the special region of Indonesia Yogyakarta. This vertical cave is a thousand years sinkhole with enormous 50 meter wide mouth of cave. This place also a conservation for tropical ancient plants managed by local people. If lucky, people could enjoy the 'Heaven Light', the 90 meter magnificent light that piercing through the cave To go in and out of the cave people have to work together. It is a 💯 percent manual labor tourist spot. A group of experts helps tourist to go in by the rope, and pull the tourist out using a bunch of local people muscles. The tou...

Grow

One of the kid characteristic is their difficulties in expressing themselves, once they encountered a problem they will show us many emotions such as confusion, frustration, anger, despair, and sadness. They will throw tantrum to communicate their unspeakable words instead of using sentences to complain or explain. This is because children have their limitation in vocabulary. Therefore the process of growing up require brushing up our communication skills. I still learning on how to expressing my emotion in words, and I use this blogging platform to improve my communication skills. My husband and I are a pair of serious people. It is my joy to annoy him by doing prank and utter silly things. My husband often said to me that "small things amused small mind" (he said it in a gentle manner of course 😍). Indeed, I love small and simple things so much, I always keep my distance from complicated items, expensive things and phony behaviour, I even avoid socializing and keep my circ...

2019 to 2020

This is my first post in 2020, I would like to have a quick review of my 2019. I finally graduated from the course that I dream of. I thought I will have a career in the business once I graduated, but I found out that the world of corporate and governance that I am going to enter are too much for me to handle. I am not an assertive person and tend to become victim and end up being used by others, even on the menial works. I value myself, what I believe and all the integrity and ethics that follow. I am afraid the line of work in this field would change me and maybe degrade myself from who I am.  In the other hand, I kind of think that I have waste my degree and my long-life dream (my dream has change now) by not actively looking for job in this particular field. This made me feel that I am too meek and useless sometimes, that I haven't push myself hard enough and going out from my comfort zone, that I am just too coward and pessimistic of this world. Moreover, it's hard for me ...
